Genesis Liriano is a third year student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Born in the Dominican Republic and raised in New York City, Genesis developed an interest in social justice and education. She has explored this by taking courses in areas like global health, history and educational policy.

Genesis holds multiple active positions on campus that focus on diversity and empowering student voices. As a student leader you may see her in her role of Dean’s Ambassador for the College of Letters and Science or planning events with the Latin Heritage Month Planning Committee. She is Director of Internal Programming for the UW-Madison’s NPHC chapter as a proud representative of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. and is External President of ReWear-It, a sustainability org that focuses on promoting new life cycles in clothing and teaching mending techniques.

While in undergrad she has pursued research opportunities in both education and urban planning. She hopes to get into a career that allows her to help preserve culture and help further develop communities.
